Cool Things in Seoul, S. Korea
For all of you grew up watching the popular TV sitcom, Cheers.. The show always began with the theme song, “Making your way in the world today takes everything you got…lalalaalalala..ending with ..you want to go where everybody knows your name”. Watts on Tap is quintessentially a home away from home. It’s cozy, and the owner/staff/customers are all on a first name bases. If it’s your first time visiting, it won’t be long before you too will be inducted and feel right at home.
The bar is owned by a Canadian, and the staff is also foreigners. The clientel is mostly made-up of a younger foreign crowd as well ( a lot of Canadian English teachers).

Eccentric Bjork will be coming to Seoul on February 16, 2008 as part of her ongoing tour promoting her latest album, Volta. I suspect that this will be a sold-out concert as her album has received warm receptions from her fans all around the world. “Earth Intruders,” the first single from the album, was released in digital format on April 9, and became her second-ever Billboard Hot 100 entry in the United States. The album also reached number three on the French Albums chart, with 20,600 albums sold in its first week, and number seven on the U.K. Albums Chart with 20,456 units sold.

Shinsa dong is the latest upcoming fashionable district. A great little cafes and trendy restaurants and bars can be found here which includes Cafe 6:02min. I would advise to take a cab. Not a walking distance from either Apgujeong or Sinsa Station. It’s just south of Han River off of Hannam Day-gyo (Bridge) west of Apgujeong station.
For those who are socially conscious about the coffee bean price fixing, they serve free traded coffee.
Taxi: Shinsa-dong, Hyundai (Go-Dung Huck Gyo=high school) which is the black star marked on the map across from GS-25. The neighborhood is across the street from the school.

Mr. people’s DJ, Carl Cox, needs no formal introduction. He has been countlessly rated as the best of the best in the electronic music industry and also by the fans. As one of the most seek out and well traveled DJs in the world as his popularity has been continuously rising over last 15 years or so, we Seoulites are blessed to be graced by his presence for the upcoming New Year Eve bash on December 31 at Coex Indian Hall promoted by http://www.riskei.co.kr. No information has been posted on the site yet. As of now, it’s only listed on Carl Cox’s personal site http://www.carlcox.com/. You can also check out www.amonly.com, carl cox’s booking agency, for possible further info as well.
Personal note: Over the last 9 years, I have seen Mr Cox play in Berlin, Detroit, Chicago, Munich, and Seoul (he was here in late 2005) and he never fails to deliver. His music may not be most innovative or technologically sophisticated, but it holds his special magical potion of a feel good, let your hair down vibe that first gets your finger tapping, head bobbing, and then your whole body busting out moves that you never knew you even had. It’s a religious experience that no one should miss out on!!
